## Overview

NICE HMS provides a complete digital prescription workflow. Doctors can create prescriptions, select from common medications, use templates for speed, clone previous prescriptions, and deliver them via print or WhatsApp.

## Step 1: Log In as a Doctor

Use your doctor credentials. The system loads your personalized dashboard.

## Step 2: Access My Patients

From the sidebar, click **My Patients**. This is your central hub for patient management and prescription creation.

## Step 3: Choose the Relevant Tab

| Tab | Shows |
|-----|-------|
| **OPD** | Today's OPD patients (current encounters). Adjust the date to view past encounters. |
| **IPD** | Currently admitted patients under your care with active encounters. |
| **Request** | Procedure requests (endoscopy, ECHO, lab tests, etc.) for pathologists or technicians. |

## Step 4: Select a Patient

Click the patient's name or ID to open their record management page.

## Step 5: Create a New Prescription

1. Click **New Prescription**.
2. Use the **notes box** for clinical notes, diagnosis, and follow-up advice.
3. Add the follow-up date if needed.

## Step 6: Add Medicines

1. Click **Add Medicine**.
2. Choose from the list of commonly prescribed medications.
3. For each medicine, specify:
   - **Dosage** — e.g., 500mg
   - **Frequency** — e.g., BD (twice daily), TDS (three times daily)
   - **Duration** — e.g., 5 days
   - **Instructions** — e.g., "After food"
4. Click **Add** to include it in the prescription.

**Adding unlisted medicines:** If a medicine isn't in the list, you can add it to your personal medicine list for future use.

## Step 7: Submit

Click **Submit** to finalize the prescription.

## Step 8: Deliver to Patient

| Method | How |
|--------|-----|
| **Print** | Opens the prescription as a PDF in a new browser tab. Print directly or save as PDF. |
| **WhatsApp** | Sends the prescription directly to the patient's registered mobile number via WhatsApp. |

## Cloning Prescriptions

For follow-up visits or repeat prescriptions, use the **Clone** feature:

1. Open a previous prescription.
2. Click **Clone**.
3. Modify as needed (change dosage, add/remove medicines).
4. Submit.

This saves time and ensures prescribing consistency.

- Drug interaction checks
- Dosage recommendations
- Diagnosis-based medication suggestions (based on CDSS modules for diabetes, hypertension, lipids, and lifestyle)

**Q: Can I save prescription templates for common cases?**
A: Yes. Use the Clone feature to build a library of go-to prescriptions. Clone and modify for each patient.

**Q: How do patients receive prescriptions on WhatsApp?**
A: Ensure the patient's mobile number is correct. After submitting, select the WhatsApp option. The prescription PDF is sent to their WhatsApp number.
