Operation Theater Management Module in Nice HMS

We are happy to introduce the Operation Theater Management module in Nice HMS. This feature was long requested by several of our clients, and we are excited to announce its implementation.

This module enables hospitals to efficiently manage Operation Theater (OT) slot bookings by doctors or nurses. In many hospitals, there are multiple OTs and several surgeons operating simultaneously. Creating and managing daily OT schedules can be a complex task, often leading to overlapping bookings, which causes confusion for doctors, patients, and nursing staff.

With this new module, Nice HMS helps streamline OT scheduling, prevent conflicts, and enhance coordination among all stakeholders.

The Need for Better OT Scheduling

In many hospitals, surgeons often have overlapping operation timings, leading to congestion and scheduling difficulties. As a result, it becomes challenging for doctors to plan surgeries in advance.

With this new module, doctors or their assistants can now schedule surgeries well in advance, reducing unnecessary waiting times and preoperative admissions. Patients can walk into the hospital on the day of surgery, undergo the procedure, and be discharged smoothly without unnecessary hassle.

How the OT Booking Feature Works

 Accessing the OT Booking Page

• The OT booking feature is accessible from the Patient Dashboard by clicking the “OT Booking” option.

• This opens a dedicated booking page where all available OTs are listed.

• Booked slots appear in red, while available slots are shown in green.

 Daily Session Structure

• Each day is divided into three sessions: Morning, Evening, and Night.

• Within each session, time slots are broken down into 30-minute intervals.

 Booking a Surgery Slot

To book a surgery slot:

1. Select the preferred session.

2. Choose the primary surgeon, anesthetist, and enter the procedure name.

3. Select an available OT from the list.

4. Choose one or more 30-minute slots depending on the duration of the procedure.

5. Click the Submit button to finalize the booking.

 Canceling a Booked Slot

To cancel an already booked slot:

• Click on any of the booked slots; all associated slots will be selected automatically.

• Click the Unbook button to release the slot(s).

 Selecting a Date

• You can change the booking date using the date picker at the top of the page.

• This allows you to plan surgeries for future dates and view available slots accordingly.

Additional Features

• Hospitals can print the OT list for the day for easy offline coordination among staff.

• The module supports multiple OTs, concurrent surgeries, and future scheduling for better planning and efficiency.
