Overview

The Monthly Business Events Report is a PDF that summarises one or more client organisations' activity for a calendar month — patient registrations, OPD visits, admissions, discharges, and ABDM document counts — day by day, with a comparison against the same month a year earlier and a short written analysis.

It is generated automatically and delivered by email. There is no on-screen page for it in NICE HMS yet.

What the report contains

The PDF has three pages.

Page 1 — Day-by-day matrix. Each metric is a row and each day of the month is a column, with a Total column on the right. A dash (-) means zero for that day. Rows are grouped:

  • Patients — New patients registered; New patients ABHA-linked; New patients not ABHA-linked
  • Clinical activity — OPD visits; Admissions done; Discharges done
  • Documents — one row per ABDM document type recorded in the month (for example Discharge Summary, OPD Consultation, Prescription, Invoice). This list is not fixed: whatever document types were recorded that month appear here.

Page 2 — Facility breakdown and graphs. The same metrics totalled per organisation, plus:

  • A bar chart comparing this month with the same month last year for the core metrics
  • A bar chart comparing document-type totals between the two months
  • A daily admissions and discharges trend line

Page 3 — Analysis. A short written summary under the headings Overview, Key highlights, Year-on-year, and Areas to review. The figures are exact; only the surrounding commentary is written automatically.

The comparison is always against the same month a year earlier — not the previous month.

When it is sent

  • On the 1st of each month at 08:00 IST, covering the previous calendar month.
  • The PDF is attached to the email; the subject line is Monthly Business Events Report — <Month> <Year>.
  • Every active subscription produces its own email, so different recipients can receive different sets of organisations.

Setting up a subscription

A subscription defines which organisations are reported on and who receives the email:

  • a name for the subscription
  • one or more client organisations
  • one or more To email addresses
  • optional Cc email addresses
  • whether the subscription is active

Subscriptions are configured for you through the NICE HMS reseller tooling — ask support to add, change, or stop one. A subscription can cover a single organisation or a group.

Want a report like this for your organisation? Contact NICE HMS and we will set one up. If you need a similar report covering different metrics, a different period, or a different format, let us know — we build these to order.

Where the figures come from

  • Patient registrations come from the organisation's own NICE HMS records. "ABHA-linked" means the patient already had an ABHA number when registered.
  • OPD visits, admissions, discharges and documents come from the organisation's ABDM (FHIR) records.

If a facility is not linked to ABDM, only the patient numbers can be reported — the clinical-activity and document rows stay at zero.

Notes and limitations

  • "Areas to review" raises data-quality points worth acting on, such as ABHA linkage below the 80% target, a document type that dropped to zero, or finished admissions with no discharge date recorded. Admissions with no discharge date cannot be placed on a day, so they are reported separately rather than counted in the day columns.
  • Admissions counts every inpatient stay started in the month, including those discharged later. Discharges counts inpatient stays marked finished whose discharge falls in the month.
  • If the analysis service is unavailable when the report runs, the report is still sent, with a plain summary of the figures in place of the written analysis.

Common Issues

The clinical-activity and document rows are all zero. The facility likely has no ABDM link, or no such records for that month. Patient registration counts will still be correct.

The email did not arrive. Check the subscription is active and the recipient addresses are right. Contact support to confirm or update the subscription.

A figure looks wrong. Check the "Areas to review" section first — missing discharge dates and dropped document types are called out there.

FAQ

Q: Is there a page in NICE HMS where I can view this report? A: Not yet — it is delivered by email only.

Q: Does it compare with the previous month? A: No. The comparison is always against the same month one year earlier.

Q: Can I report on just one organisation? A: Yes. A subscription lists the organisations it covers, so you can have one per client or one grouped report.

Q: Can I change who receives it, or add a Cc? A: Yes — ask support to update the subscription's recipients.

Q: Can I receive it for a different period? A: The report is fixed to the previous calendar month. Contact support if you need a different period.

Q: I want a similar report, but with different figures or a different format. A: Contact NICE HMS. These reports are set up and built to order — tell us what you need and we will arrange it.
